RNC Night 2 – Donald Trump Jr. and Tiffany Trump

Donald Trump Jr. said “this is the most important election of our lifetime” for his generation. He said his father has the track record of “accomplishing the impossible.”

“When they tell him something  is impossible, this  is what triggers him into action.”

He spoke of his father as as boy from Queens, that went to Manhattan and changed the skyline of New York. He has seen the look in his eyes when his father is told he can’t do something, which was something he saw in his dad a year ago.

“He’s always fully committed, and that’s why the same guy who stood in this arena a year ago with 16 professional politicians for the first time, is now coming here to be the nominee.”

“He hung out with the guys on construction sites, he listened to them and valued their opinions, often more than the guys from Harvard and Wharton locked in their offices.”

He said his father’s true gift as a leader is that he can see things  in people they can’t see in themselves. He sold his dad as someone who valued the experience of the working class, and wanted his kids to know how to work.

“We are the only children of a billionaire that are as comfortable running a Caterpillar as in a car.”

He blasted current immigration policy, “which rewards people who enter illegally over those who do legally.”

“We want all Americans …” to have the same opportunities we’ve had. Other countries do better in education because their parents can  choose their own schools. The other party is more interested in protecting the jobs of tenured teachers.

Dodd-Frank was 12,000 pages long and it has already swelled. What it has done is destroy small businesses in favor of big billionaires who can afford the lawyers and accountants to get around it.

Trump Jr. said he often talks with a friend of his who was at Benghazi, then blasted Clinton for ignoring  their warnings in the weeks leading up to the attack.

“She will strip Americans of the ability to have cheap, affordable energy.”

“We can’t simply delete our problems, we have to attack them head  on.”

Trump Jr. touted his father’s business credentials repeatedly, and said it’s time for a “president who has had to sign the front of a paycheck.”

Tiffany Trump spoke, the daughter of Trump and his ex-wife Marla Maples. She recently graduated college. She spoke before Donald Trump Jr.

“My father is good with advice, as you would guess. He said if you don’t let fear or failure get in your way, you’ve figured out the Trump way.”

She says she enjoys introducing Trump to friends and breaking preconceived notions, calling him nice, kind, loving and comfortable around anyone.

CNN’s roundtable said Tiffany Trump’s portrayal of her father was more intimate and personal than previous speeches. Trump Jr. impressed the panel the most of anyone at the convention to this point. He spoke in intimate terms about the candidate to begin, but went into details of policy and family that relate to the middle class while going over policy principles from business, jobs, guns and education. The panel also praised him for speaking naturally and eloquently like a seasoned vet, and was a better podium speaker than his father
