Rhine McLin and Tom Young named to Montgomery Co. BOE

Democrat Rhine McLin has been reappointed to her seat on the Montgomery County Board of Elections and Republican Tom Young was appointed to replace Greg Gantt, according to Joshua Eck, spokesman for Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.

Both were recommended by their county parties and sworn in by Husted on Friday.

McLin, former Dayton mayor and state legislator, overcame an intra-party challenge to win the party endorsement. She  is vice chairwoman of the Ohio Democratic Party and has served on the board since 2012.

Young, of Washington Twp., has a background in business and finance and has been active in the community, previously serving on the Wright State University Board of Trustees and Dayton Peace Accords board. He was a founding board member of Dayton School & Business Technology and chaired Campfire Boys & Girls.

The board is made up of two Republicans and two Democrats who oversee the board of elections staff and all elections matters. The salary for the job starting this year is $18,744 annually.
