Two members of the Republican State Central Committee are backing state Sen. Bill Beagle, R-Tipp City, in the GOP primary race to replace John Boehner in Congress.

Beagle is one of 15 Republicans running for the party nomination.

Stephanie Garrett and Darryl Mehaffie, who represent Miami, Preble and parts of Darke and Montgomery counties on the state central committee, announced Monday they’re endorsing Beagle.

“I know it can be challenging sometimes to figure out who to support in a Republican Primary – especially when you have 15 candidates on the ballot,” said Mehaffie in a written statement. “I want my fellow Republicans to know that in this race, there is only one candidate that we can count on to stay true to his conservative values and fight for the meaningful reforms our country needs – and that man is Bill Beagle. I know Bill personally and I’ve seen firsthand the type of principled and honorable leader he is.”
