Jessica Wehrman in the Washington Bureau is reporting that at least four Ohio lawmakers have more than $1 million apiece in the bank well over a year before the November 2016 elections.
House Speaker John Boehner, R-West Chester Twp., as well as Republicans Pat Tiberi of Genoa Twp., Steve Stivers of Upper Arlington, and Jim Jordan of Urbana all had at least $1 million in the bank as of March 31, according to campaign records filed with the Federal Election Commission. The reports were due April 15.
Unsurprisingly, Boehner, who has multiple campaign accounts, raised $2.52 million last quarter through his “Friends of John Boehner” account – which is considered his main re-election account – and had $2.35 million in the bank for that campaign fund. He spent $1.46 million last quarter.
Tiberi came in second in fundraising, raising $402,981 last quarter and spent $97,430. He had $2.8 million on hand as of March 31.
Stivers raised $375,127 between Jan. 1 and March 31 and spent $79,192. He had $1.2 million in the bank.
And Jordan has more than $1 million on hand, and raised $72,376 last quarter. He spent $32,353 last quarter.
